Nakisa Nooraee will join us with her great travel writings.

She is now in Dublin studying astrophysics, travelling around the world and writing about her experiences. Her writings are vivid, interesting and nice.

She has her Master of Science in physics in Sharif University of Technology in Tehran Iran on Gravitational lenses and then went to city of Joyce for Ph.D. .

Nakisa write about herself in her homepage as below:

My nationality is Iranian and my name (Nakisa)
is the name of Iranian harpist on Sassanids (fl. c. 600).
I'm currently living in Dublin working on my PhD thesis. You can read about my research activities at here .
One of my main hobbies is travel writing . Fortunately I get to travel frequently in order to participate in astrophysics workshops and schools. I enjoy writing (in Farsi)
about the countries and places I visit. You can see the list of my writings and download them at here.

Meine Nationalität ist Iranisch und mein Name ist ein historischer Name eines grossen Harfenspielers, der vor 1500 Jahren lebte. Aber es ist der Name fuer eine Frau.
Mein Beruf ist die Astrophysik und ich bin Student in Dublin. Sie koennen ueber meine Forschung unter diesem Link lesen.
Mein Hobby ist Reisen und Schreiben. Ich schreibe von meinen Reisen in meiner Muttersprache auf Persisich.
Mein anderes Hobby ist die Deutsche Sprache. Ich besuche den Kurs im Goethe-Institut von Dublin. Ich hoere Musik fuer Kinder und lese kleine Buecher. Ich hoffe, bald gut Deutsch sprechen und schreiben zu koennen.

LHC will reach to 7 Tev Energy on March 30

Today 30 March 2010 the LHC/Large Hadron Collider / will reach to its maximum energy up to know: 7 Tev = 7 1000 Giga Electron Volt.

Lets wait to see what will unrevealed for us. Higgs, Dar matter , extra dimensions or not special.

Who is Lisa randall?

Lisa Randall is professor of theoretical physics and studies particle physics and cosmology at Harvard University. Her research concerns elementary particles and fundamental forces and has involved the development and study of a wide variety of models, the most recent involving extra dimensions of space. She has made advances in understanding and testing the Standard Model of particle physics, supersymmetry, models of extra dimensions, resolutions to the hierarchy problem concerning the weakness of gravity and experimental tests of these ideas, cosmology of extra dimensions, baryogenesis, cosmological inflation, and dark matter. Professor Randall earned her PhD from Harvard University and held professorships at MIT and Princeton University before returning to Harvard in 2001. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a fellow of the American Physical Society, and is a past winner of an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Research Fellowship, a National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award, a DOE Outstanding Junior Investigator Award, and the Westinghouse Science Talent Search. Her book Warped Passages: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Universe's Hidden Dimensions was included in the New York Times' 100 notable books of 2005.

Norvan an Armenian poet and academician who won the MOVSES KHORENATZI

Մովսէս Խորենացի medal for his contribution in teaching the Armenian language in Iran accept to join us in Papier by reprinting his poets, thoughts and essays in Papier.

Norik Mikaelian which his pen name is Norvan accomplished his studies in Yerevan University in Armenian language has three poetry books and also translated the poems of Ahmad Shamlըo to Persian. Now he is a professor of Armenian language in Tehran University, also teach Armenian language in Armenian schools and write poems. He is an intellect and master of literature.

anyhow it is a great pleasure and honour for us to share his thought and poems in Papier.

What is the right thing to do?

What is the right thing to do? That is the question we started asking ourselves possibly ever since we started to think. The right thing! It’s a weird question and the longer the history becomes the question comes back more often. Morality and the question of the justice nowadays cover a range of questions from simple choices we make in our so-called everyday life to highly heated debates of politics. Great minds from Socrates, Plato and Aristotle to Bentham, Kant, Nietzschie, or Rawl, you name it, they all tried to come up with answers to the question of what is the right thing to do. Answers that in some scenarios make perfect sense and in some just do not make any sense at all. The question, I think, is far from being resolved. It is not even clear if there is an answer. However, no matter what, the question keeps coming back over and over again. Those of us who practice a certain religion usually believe that we get our morality from holy books. But the fact is most of us do not take those books comprehensively. There are sometimes things written in this books that, if one takes too literally, are simply immoral. Also it is not deniable that many of the non-religious friends of us are very moral people. Then what is the right thing to do?

Let me tell you something. I do not know and I do not know any one who really knows but I feel a sense of urgency for a quest to read and to think about these questions and if you are one of those people who says these are irrelevant questions to our life I think you are very wrong. I believe our society is in a moral crisis and time has come for Iranians to leave the false security of consensus and to think and to try to come up with answers.

Dwarf Spheroidal galaxes and hint to Dark Matter

In a recent work published by Fermi Gamma ray space telescope team in Astrophysical Journal was shown that Dwarf Spheroidal galaxies can be used as indirect probes to know more about Dark matter candidates.

Dwarf Spheroidal galaxies (dSph) are small galaxies with low luminosity found in Local group in neighborhood of our galaxy. This type of astronomical objects has a very little amount of gas and dust and star formation does not occur there. There were nine "classical" dSph galaxies discovered up until 2005, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey has resulted in the discovery of 11 more dSph galaxies. This low luminosity shows that the fraction of unknown dark matter to ordinary matter in them is high. Astronomers asserts that dSph are to most Dark matter dominated objects in universe and the most frequent type of galaxies, but because of their low luminosity there are out of reach of our telescopes.

Any how the Fermi Gamma ray team looked on 14 known dSph galaxies for 11 months and detect the gamma ray emitted from them in the range of 20 Mev up to 300 Gev. This observation's idea is motivated and designed because one of the most prominent candidates of Dark maters(DM) are WIMPs(Weakly Interacting Particles) and as the particle physics models predict, this WIMPS can annihilate and emit photons in gamma ray energy interval. As the detection of gamma rays from the dSph are very low it puts good constraints on WIMP dark matter models.

Further study of this Dark matter dominated object will reveal new insights for DM.

The story of blue planet(earth)'s humankind!! invasion to a new discovered moon "Pandora" of a giant gas planet to catch a precious mineral called unobtanium is the main theme of the work. James Cameron is undoubtedly a professional: scene selections, visual effects and the creation of the characters are great. Anyhow I want to mention a couple of points about the story of Avatar.

1)James Cameron insists on the relation of living creature with the nature. The importance of nature in the opposition of industrialized robots and technologies are one of the main messages of the film.

2)Avatar shows the very future version of today's world problem, the war of civilizations.

3)In avatar many times the characters of the good side of story insists on diplomatic solution instead of war.

4)Avatar once more re express the old story of American invaders and their confrontation with native Indians in a new form of planet Earth's humankind and the living creatures in Pandora .

5) Avatar shows the importance of dialogue between different civilizations, the importance of the knowledge of each others language customs and ontology.

6)Avatar is a really fun for those who are thinking about Astrobiology, extratrestial life and exoplanets.

7)Avatar is a fun for science fiction lovers.

ESA chooses three scientific missions for further study

Exoplanets: PLATO-Euclid

Sun: Solar Orbiter

Dark energy : Euclid

ESA / European Space Agency / in February 18, chooses three proposals for middle class projects in cosmology. Euclid for studying dark energy and exoplanets by microlensing, PLATO for finding exoplanets by transit method and Solar orbiter to study our sun was chosen to participate in a contest in 2017. ESA's Science Programme Committee (SPC) approved three missions to enter the so-called definition phase. This is the next step required before the final decision is taken as to which missions are implemented. Two of this project will be chosen and ESA will start them starting from 2020.

This step by ESA shows that three problems of Dark Energy , Exoplanets and our Sun is the most hottest topics in observational cosmology and astrophysics in Europeans point of view for two decades!!!
